Physical Control of a Vehicle While Intoxicated 4511.194

If your attorney gets you a physical control, which is often a reduction from a DUI, you will be at the mercy of the court.  If the court imposes no suspension you will have no reinstatement fee.  If, however, the court chooses to impose a suspension a reinstatement fee of $425.00 will be required.

How Do I Reinstate My License?

If you are charged with a drunk driving charge (a.k.a. DUI or OVI) you should consult an attorney.  Your attorney may get your A.L.S. suspension vacated or terminated thereby saving you a hefty reinstatement fee.  If the A.L.S. remains you can:

  1. Serve the required suspension period.
  2. Pay the proper Reinstatement Fee (click here for the BMV’s Reinstatement Fee List (http://bmv.ohio.gov/driver_license/reinstatement_fees.htm).
  3. Show proof of insurance by providing proper documentation to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, P.O. Box 16520, Columbus, Ohio 43216-6520, Attn: Reinstatement Fee.
