Judgment Suspension (OFTEN CONFUSED WITH A SECURITY SUSPENSION, R.C. 4509.11-4509.291) http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/driver_license/judgments.htm

If you are sued and the other party receives a judgment that remains unsatisfied for thirty days, the BMV may certify the case for suspension. The resulting suspension is indefinite until one of the following occurs:

1. A full release or payment arrangement signed by the plaintiff or the attorney for the plaintiff;

2. A certified journal entry from the court indicating that a full release or payment arrangement has been accepted;

3. A petition for discharge in bankruptcy court with a schedule of debts listing the judgment from which relief is sought.

As with the security suspension, no driving privileges are available. The judgment suspension is usually coupled with a non-compliance suspension which will require the filing of HIGH RISK insurance (SR-22 or Bond) for three to five years.
