Failure to File a Crash (Accident) Report
R.C. 4509.06

Previously, every driver who was involved in an accident had to file a crash/accident report with the BMV reporting their insurance status. Current 4509.06 requires that the insured driver may file within six months of the crash if the other driver/owner was not insured. If filed, the other driver/owner must respond and report their insurance status. Whether or not the driver is insured, the BMV will suspend the license if no report is filed. The suspension remains in effect until the report is filed. The good news is that there is no reinstatement fee. The bad news is that you may find out about this suspension when stopped for a routine traffic ticket.
